What is the Aspen Brain Forum?
• A high level think tank, held in Aspen, Colorado annually to convene science and industry leaders on Brain and Cognitiion, Brain and Neurotechnology, Brain and Ageing, Brain and Education, Brain and Health, etc.
• The Annual Conference is jointly presented by the Aspen Brain Forum Foundation, the New York Academy of Sciences and the Science Translational Medicine Journal.
The Fifth Annual Aspen Brain Forum of will be held November 11 – 13, 2014 in New York City on SHAPING THE DEVELOPING BRAIN.
Mission
• To organize, produce, and host an annual high-level meeting of International Brain Researchers
in Aspen, with our strategic partner, the New York Academy of Sciences, leading to global collaborations and breakthroughs in World Brain Science.
• To present and disseminate the most cutting-edge innovations in Brain Science to an elite, intimate, and interactive meeting of up to 200 scientists.
• To ally with large new initiatives, such as the American Brain Coalition, the American Brain Foundation, and One Mind for Research, to prevent and cure brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Autism, and Depression, within a decade.
Program
• Aspen Brain Forum 2010: Building Better Brains: Neural Prosthetics and Beyond
• Aspen Brain Forum 2011: The Cognitive Neuroscience of Learning: Implications for Education
• Aspen Brain Forum 2012: Cracking the Neural Code
• Aspen Brain Forum 2013: Accelerating Translational Neurotechnology, showcasing concepts and companies that advance cutting-edge research into faster cures.
Aspen Brain Forum 2014: Shaping the Developing Brain: Prenatal through Early Childhood
• The Aspen Brain Forums will gather neurobiologists, cognitive neuroscientists, computer scientists, and engineers to share their breakthrough research to repair and enhance the brain's motor, sensory, and cognitive functions.
Impact
• The annual Aspen Brain Forum will have profound societal impact. As Paul Allen, founder of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, says, “A new generation of implantable pacemakers for the brain will be widely used to treat everything from depression, addiction, and Alzheimer's to cognitive enhancement.” Toffler notes, “by 2050, a major jump forward in the capabilities of the human brain and nervous system (coming from the Neuroscience labs) will redefine how we as a species imagine, work, think, and heal.” |
